“AWAKEN THE POTENTIAL OF YOUR MIND AND BODY WITH Nova YOGA.”
In yoga, we are systematically awakening our ability to feel what’s happening in our body, heart, and mind.
Nova Yoga differs from other studios because classes are held at a well-established physiotherapy clinic which is ideal for students who are new to yoga or have injuries that require assistance in classes. Classes are beginner friendly and designed to educate students about the muscles and poses. Classes are offered by a skilled registered massage therapist with the ability to assess any issues you wish to address in your practice. The classes focus on the asanas and pranayama (breathing). TheAsanas are the physical postures or poses in yoga. These help improve our physical health and our ability to concentrate. As we go into each pose, we become more aware of our body and breath, we begin to recognise our individual abilities and limitations. With regular practice, yoga will not only improve your flexibility but also improve your strength, balance, and endurance.
60 minute yoga classes are offered 2 times a week by Jillian Lewis, RMT, RYT
Sunday Slow Flow Mornings 10:00am
A relaxing combination of sustained yoga poses integrated with gentle flowing sequences. Classes are designed to educate students on basic alignment, variations/modifications of poses including the use of straps or blocks, muscle awareness/engagement and the therapeutic benefits of each pose. Observing breath and body are an integral part of every class.
Restorative Yoga Thursday evenings 8:30pm (Temporarily unavailable)
Poses are held for a longer period of time, generally between 3-5mins. Props such as blocks, pillows and blankets are used to fully support the body, allowing it to release slowly with little to no effort. This allows the deep connective tissues of the body (ligaments, tendons, fascia) to relax fully. Focus is on the breath, and awareness of the sensations in the body.
Yogassage combines the therapeutic skills of massage therapy and yoga in one, allowing for a maximized healing experience. This type of yoga is ideal for individuals looking for a slower paced hands-on class. Class sizes are smaller and offered throughout the year.
